CranioSacral Therapy is beneficial for all ages, it is especially important to help babies and children release stresses and tension as soon as we can.

Baby CranioSacral Therapy

Infant CranioSacral Therapy -CST- is a very gentle style of bodywork that is appropriate for newborns and infants.  This style of massage therapy releases tension and adhesions in our nervous system, organs, joints and connective tissue that can cause pain and dysfunction in our body systems. It is preventative as well as releasing a specific condition.

It is safe and powerful to give your baby a CranioSacral Therapy session.  Tissue restrictions for an infant can occur in-utero due to not-optimal fetal positioning or as they twist and turn during the birth process.  As baby goes through the birth canal, the head changes shape, the body may twist or get stuck, the birth may be exceptionally quick or prolonged, baby was occiput-posterior, transverse, or breech position. Or there may have been an intervention: vacuum extraction, forceps and even cesarean.  This can set the stage for certain scenarios that can contribute to:

          • Breathing difficulties
          • Colic
          • Chronic ear infections
          • Digestive/Elimination issues
          • Extreme fussiness
          • Latching issues
          • Nursing problems
          • Reflux
          • Shoulder dystocia
          • Sleeping problems
          • Spitting up
          • Torticollis (only turning the head to one side)

A CST session can address these traumas, eliminating or minimizing the results.

What if You had a Cesarean Section ?

CranioSacral therapy is wonderful for C-section babies.  In a vaginal birth, all of the cranial bones compress on each other as the head goes through the birth canal. This is baby’s first adjustment to his system. With a C-section this does not happen which can slow the functioning of the cerebral spinal fluid and the cranial wave. C-Section babies often have lower Apgar scores, more chronic ear infections, may be more fussy, or be higher strung.

CranioSacral Therapy will relax their muscles and nervous system to calm them.

Latching Concerns with Breastfeeding Babies

If breastfeeding is painful for is probably driven by a structural concern with baby.
Please go to my Breastfeeding page for details.

Craniosacral Therapy sessions can release restrictions contributing to a tight or inefficient latching/sucking by baby.

Growth Milestones
Infant Craniosacral therapy is also a great tool for helping your child through the many growth milestones such as; rolling over, learning to crawl or walk, teething and talking. If it seems like your child just can’t get past something, this can help.
All of these can be helped with CranioSacral Therapy, by gently releasing tissue tension and working to restore optimal relaxation and function.

Infant CST Testimonials

Baby Quinn has slept through the night for 2 nights now and his fussiness has been MINIMAL.  The difference this has made for our family is amazing. Before the CST he had not slept more than 40minutes at a time!

Working with Teresa has been a blessing. Our baby had severe Reflux with that horrible projectile-vomiting.  After a few sessions she is so much better, thank you Teresa!      A.Z. in Beaverton

The Infant CST seemed so gentle and soothing to my little boy and Teresa put me right at ease.  He was having a hard time latching, it was painful and pinching to me. He was fussing all the time while trying to breastfeed and now he latches right on.
